How it works in your browser
The photo is parsed in your browser to read the EXIF block - the hidden record cameras and phones attach - and any GPS coordinates are flagged for you. The clean copy is produced by re-saving the visible pixels without that metadata block, entirely on your device.
Choosing a format
The clean copy keeps the same picture; only the hidden metadata is dropped. If you also want a smaller file to share, run the stripped copy through the compressor afterwards.
Example
For example, a holiday photo taken on a phone may carry the exact GPS coordinates of where you were standing plus the phone model and timestamp - this tool surfaces all of that, then hands you a copy with it removed.

FAQ
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. Every operation runs entirely inside your browser using WebAssembly and on-device models. Your files never leave your device and are never sent anywhere. You can even disconnect from the internet after the page loads.
Do social networks not remove EXIF already?
Some do, many do not - and files shared directly, by email or messenger often keep full GPS data. Stripping it yourself is the only way to be sure.
